Yesterday I went to the Open Day at Mayday Hospital in Croydon and visited the orthopaedic and trauma department, where a young doctor presented a slideshow of three cases of broken bones. Afterwards, during the questions, one lady asked about posture. Most of the information that the doctor gave her was good but he told her to keep her chin up! If she does this, she is most likely to contract the back of her neck and thereby compress the vertebrae in her neck, an effect which is likely to radiate down her spine to her lower back. I wish the medical profession would make good use of the Alexander Technique profession!
